Minumum Wage to Increase
At the June 23rd special session, the state legislature voted to override Gov. Rell's veto of minumum wage legislation. The unusual override marked a political defeat for thr Governor. The minimum wage will incease from the current $7.65 per hour to $8.00 per hour effective Jan 1, 2009 and $8.25 per hour effective Jan 1, 2010. The CFA was active in the negociation process to keep the second year increase to 25 cents per hour vs. the 35 cents per hour in the original bill.
